Activity: 20,000-40,000 Fishman units/mL. Specific activity: 1,500 - 2,000 units/mg protein. Protein concentration: 10 - 16 mg/mL. Optimum pH: 4.2. Preparation: Muggy liquid in ammonia sulfate. beta-Glucuronidase, purified from the digestive juice of Ampullaria sp., has the following advantages over beta-Glucuronidase from other sources: heat stability (no inactivation occurs after heating for 3 hours at 60 degrees C), wide substrate specificity, and the lack of a precise pH requirement.
